Ian’s experience focus has been in both STO (Shutdown, Turnaround and Outage) management and general management. In a career spanning 45 years, and working in five continents, with extensive knowledge of international S.T.O. performance standards and best practices, Ian has developed an ability to identify organizational performance and gap solutions for client organizations. Some of the tools he developed during a lengthy career are now adopted internationally.

His experience spans across many sectors including oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, steel, bulk storage, fine chemical, conventional power and nuclear power. Ian’s roles have included key influence of the development of one of the UK’s leading shutdown, turnaround and outage support service companies including operational responsibility across the business unit. Ian also held roles as Business Unit Director responsible for a leading bulk storage support and construction division, and Offline Project Sponsor for a UK wide support contract for one of the UK’s leading power generation companies.

Ian has extensive S.T.O. experience working both for operator and service providers including supporting global operators as part of their peer review teams. Having been a driving component in the development of a plc organization peer review process, Ian has led teams in S.T.O. reviews in both the UK, mainland Europe, Southern Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East.
